I was born right here in the Pacific Northwest in Edmonds, Washington. I completed medical school at the University of Washington and my residency at Tufts Family Medicine in Boston. I returned to Washington to practice medicine in Port Angeles before coming up to Bellingham.
I was drawn to family medicine after volunteering in a small mountain town in Ecuador where we would trek for miles to provide treatment to entire families that had no access to care. Having knowledge about all the interconnected body systems and not just one specialty meant I could help my patients even when they had complex medical issues. While I enjoy family medicine for the breadth of knowledge it requires, it is the relationships that I have built with my patients over months and years that I find the most rewarding.
I have a special interest in sports medicine, inspired by my own participation in sports growing up. Coupled with my experience working with underserved populations, challenging environmental obstacles, and complex health issues, I am uniquely qualified to help patients not only manage illness but also empower them to incorporate healthy habits in their daily lives.
When not working I love spending time with my wife and three children. We enjoy all the Northwest has to offer – you’ll find us up in the mountains, in the woods, or on the water playing in nature.
