We have been designated a Rural Health Clinic since 2006. That means we are able to provide traditionally underserved populations access to the same quality health care as the rest of our community. 

Many of our doctors still practice inpatient medicine at St. Joseph Medical Center, taking shifts to ensure that Ferndale and other Family Care Network patients are seen by a doctor within our network who has access to their medical records when they are hospitalized. We also have physicians on staff who provide obstetric care, building relationship with patients from pregnancy to birth and on throughout their lives.


Our office is open for patient care Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5pm. We are normally open during the lunch hour but occasionally close for meetings. Lab hours are 8:30am-4:30pm.


We answer phone calls between 9am and 5pm. During office hours phone calls will be received by our front desk staff. They will help you directly or route your call to a clinical assistant, physician, or other staff member. Please be prepared to give your full name, date of birth, and the phone number where you may be reached during the day and into the early evening. We make every effort to return your non-emergent phone call by the end of the same working day. If your call is urgent please let us know and a staff member will assist you as soon as possible. If you are having an emergency please call 911.


When our office is closed you may reach the doctor on call through our answering service. The number is (360) 715-2446. Please use the answering service only for urgent or emergent calls.


We ask that you request refills of your medications at least three (3) business days before you finish your current prescription. In most cases it is more efficient to call your pharmacy directly as there are often refills available. When refills have run out, your pharmacy will contact us. If you use a mail order pharmacy we are happy to provide you with a written prescription that may be sent to them.


We ask that you call us 24 hours in advance if you are unable to keep your appointment unless an emergency occurs.  Your early cancellation allows us to adjust our schedule to accommodate other patients.

If you fail to keep your first appointment with Ferndale Family Medical Center you will not have the opportunity to be seen at this clinic in the future. Once you are established, if you or another family member miss an appointment you will receive a letter reminding you of our no show policy. After the second missed appointment a fee may be charged. With the third missed appointment within a 24 month period, the patient and/or family members may be dismissed from the practice at the discretion of the physician. In this case we will provide 30 days of emergent care to allow time for the patient and/or family members to seek an alternate health care provider.


We keep a record of the health care services that we provide you. You may ask your doctor to see that record. You may also ask us to correct that record. We will not disclose your record to others unless you direct us to do so in writing, or unless the law compels us to do so. A copy of your medical record will be provided free of charge to another health care provider when it is needed for your care. A copy for your personal use will incur a charge for handling and copying. Please direct any records requests to our front desk staff.


All emergencies will be seen as a priority and, as such, will be treated promptly. A life-threatening emergency requires prompt attention in an Emergency Room. Call 911 for assistance or go directly to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center, which has 24-hour physician coverage. Infrequently, emergencies do arise which take one of us away from the office. We realize this can create inconveniences for you and your family, but we are sure that if you had a medical emergency you would want us to be with you in the hospital. At times we regretfully must interrupt office visits to discuss ongoing patient care with our staff, other physicians, and the hospital staff. We appreciate your understanding and we will try to keep the interruptions to a minimum.


Our services include women's health care, newborn care, pediatrics (children's care), preventive care, chronic disease care, and office procedures such as suturing of lacerations, skin lesion removal, biopsies, casting fractures, and newborn circumcisions. Our fees are set to cover our cost of providing services and are competitive within our community. We expect payment at the time of service unless you are insured by one of the insurance companies we bill directly. Please see our financial policy for further information. Upon payment, we will provide you with an itemized billing if your insurance is not one that we bill directly. Please be prepared to present your insurance ID card at each visit.

If your policy has a co-payment we ask that you be prepared to pay this at the time of your visit. We ask our DSHS and Molina patients to supply us with coupons for each month they are seen. We accept Medicare assignment for all of our Medicare patients.

We believe that an insurance contract is between the patient and the insurance company. We will be glad to discuss any billing problems with you. If you have a problem paying your bill please do not hesitate to talk with us about it. If your child comes to our office alone, please be certain that they have current insurance information with them.
