National Women Physician Day -- February 3

Feb 02, 2018

National Women Physician Day is Saturday, February 3, held in honor of Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, who in 1849 became the first American woman to hold an MD. This day marks the accomplishments of Dr. Blackwell and the hard-won advances and innovations that women in medicine have achieved since. Now making up 34% of the physician workforce, it is important to recognize the difficult path women in medicine have traveled, celebrate their success, and fuel a renewed energy and commitment to making medicine a welcoming and equitable field for future physicians.
