Katie Southworth, MS, RDN, LMHCA

Originally from New England, I was raised on a historic farm and my love of nature started from those deep roots. I attended the University of Vermont and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and studio art. I’ve been based in the Northwest for over two decades in Oregon, Wyoming and Seattle, where I graduated from Bastyr University with a dual master’s degree in counseling and nutrition. I finally found my way back to Bellingham, which is the place I now call home.

Prior to joining Family Care Network, I worked as a dietitian for over a decade in different health care settings, then I stepped into a complementary role as a therapist working with individuals healing their relationship with food, body, and health.

My therapeutic approach continually evolves alongside my knowledge and understanding. What does not change is my curiosity and creating a space to listen and learn from patients. Core to my practice is listening to their stories about their struggles, successes, and vision for healing. I draw from different modalities including client-centered therapy, internal family systems, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness. I am currently training to become a body trust certified provider.

When I’m not with patients, I can be found drinking tea, reading many books at once, practicing yoga, walking through the woods of Bellingham, hiking in the mountains, or playing in the water with my friends and family.
